Online Application

    S-STEM Application Form
The S-STEM application is for undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Physics, or Mathematics.

Eligibility

To be eligible to receive a S-STEM scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Have a 2.7 overall GPA (see specific scholarship descriptions below for more details)
  2. Show strong academic potential or ability. This is used to gauge the student's potential for professional success and for assuming a leadership role in a technology field.
  3. Apply for financial aid through FAFSA and demonstrate financial need as follows:
    1. For undergraduate students as defined by the United States Department of Education
    2. For graduate students being eligible for Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need
  4. Be a United States citizen, national, refugee alien, or permanent resident alien
  5. Be enrolled full-time in the undergraduate or graduate biology, chemistry, computer science, information technology, mathematics, or physics program.

Furthermore, students must apply for an undergraduate scholarship in biology, chemistry, computer science, information technology, mathematics, physics, or a graduate scholarship in computer science. In each case the following additional criteria apply.

Undergraduate Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics Scholarships: Students must have completed 60 credit hours and have standing as juniors. Students must declare themselves as biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics majors with the intent to graduate from Armstrong Atlantic in two years. A two-year completion plan of study must be approved by the appropriate Department Head.

Graduate Computer Science Scholarships: Students must meet the extensive admission criteria for regular admission into Armstrong Atlantic's graduate program in computer science. Among other things, this requires an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.7 and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field. Students must declare themselves as computer science graduate students with the intent to graduate from Armstrong Atlantic in two years.

Undergraduate Information Technology Scholarships: Students must be admitted to Armstrong Atlantic's information technology program. If they are admitted directly from high school, they must have a 2.7 overall GPA in high school and a combined SAT score of at least 950. Students that are transferring into the program, who have fewer than 30 credit hours, must have a college GPA of at least 2.7 and meet the same criteria as high school students. Students having more than 30 hours of college credit must have a college GPA of at least 2.7 and be first year information technology students. In all cases students must declare themselves as information technology majors with the intent to graduate from Armstrong Atlantic in four years.

Armstrong Atlantic's science, technology, and math departments do not suffer from grade inflation. The average grade awarded in all computer science classes over the past three years has been a 2.23. Thus, the selection criteria ensures the quality of the student.
