EligibilityTo be eligible to receive a S-STEM scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:
Furthermore, students must apply for an undergraduate scholarship in biology, chemistry, computer science, information technology, mathematics, physics, or a graduate scholarship in computer science. In each case the following additional criteria apply. Undergraduate Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics Scholarships: Students must have completed 60 credit hours and have standing as juniors. Students must declare themselves as biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, or physics majors with the intent to graduate from Armstrong Atlantic in two years. A two-year completion plan of study must be approved by the appropriate Department Head. Graduate Computer Science Scholarships: Students must meet the extensive admission criteria for regular admission into Armstrong Atlantic's graduate program in computer science. Among other things, this requires an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.7 and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related field. Students must declare themselves as computer science graduate students with the intent to graduate from Armstrong Atlantic in two years. Undergraduate Information Technology Scholarships: Students must be admitted to Armstrong Atlantic's information technology program. If they are admitted directly from high school, they must have a 2.7 overall GPA in high school and a combined SAT score of at least 950. Students that are transferring into the program, who have fewer than 30 credit hours, must have a college GPA of at least 2.7 and meet the same criteria as high school students. Students having more than 30 hours of college credit must have a college GPA of at least 2.7 and be first year information technology students. In all cases students must declare themselves as information technology majors with the intent to graduate from Armstrong Atlantic in four years. Armstrong Atlantic's science, technology, and math departments do not suffer from grade inflation. The average grade awarded in all computer science classes over the past three years has been a 2.23. Thus, the selection criteria ensures the quality of the student. |
